Nurses Clinics:     Our nurses can offer the following services and clinics at both locations (High Street and Firs). There is no specific Minor Illnesses clinic at the Firs but occasionally a nurse is available. Please ask at reception.

Clinic: Minor Illnesses:
  • Asthma, Eczema, Hay fever, Allergies

  • Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT): Congestion, Ear infections, Sinusitis, Sore throat

  • Eyes: eye infections

  • Skin conditions: Rashes, Infections, Shingles, Boils, Abscesses, Acne, Bites

  • Infestations: Head lice, scabies, Thread worm

  • Infected cuts or wounds

  • Ingrown toenails

  • Minor Burns

  • Urinary Tract Infection

  • Vaginal discharge, infections

 

Telephone advice:

Our nurses are always willing to give telephone advice, amongst which are the following:

  • Childhood diseases

  • Colds / Flu

  • Constipation

  • Diarrhoea & vomiting

  • Fever

  • Sunburn

 

Asthma Clinic: This consists of Consultation(s) to ensure that the patient’s asthma is in good control and appropriate medications and devices are being used.

 

Baby immunisations and vaccinations Clinic:

 

 

Tuesday afternoons at the High Street Surgery are set apart especially for baby immunisations. If you cannot make this clinic an alternative appointment can be arranged.

Every second Wednesday between 11am and 12pm is set apart at The Firs especially for baby immunisations. If you cannot make this clinic an alternative appointment can be arranged.

 

Diabetic Clinic: This clinic provides general check-ups to prevent complications of diabetes to develop and improve the patient’s well-being.

 

Flu / Pneumococcal Clinic:

From the end of September / beginning of October there will be a special clinic to obtain your flu and/or pneumococcal immunisation(s) where appropriate. Look out for posters in the surgery.

 

Hypertension screening & monitoring clinic: If a blood pressure is above normal the nurse will monitor and assess the patient for a period of time (average of 3 months) to ensure well-being. Appropriate referral to GP will be made if necessary.

 

Travel Clinic:

In this clinic up-to-date and all-round advice is given for business and holiday travel, backpacking, adventure holidays etc. It offers, amongst others, the necessary vaccinations, medication, emergency travel kits and malaria advice. (The Heathfield Surgery is a yellow fever centre).

Travel medical packs can be purchased at the Surgery.

 

Well Man Clinic: This service includes amongst others lifestyle counselling, family history and assessment of disease factor to monitor the well-being of men.

 

Well Woman clinic: All inclusive service monitoring the well being of women, including smears, breast awareness, lifestyle issues, family history, cholesterol check and osteoporosis, pre and post menopausal advice.

 

Other services:
  • Ear syringing

  • Dressings / removals of sutures / clips

  • Coil checks

  • Spirometry

  • Contraception/pill check
