Services
| Blood Pressure Monitoring: |
This service is for patients that the GP or Practice Nurse has identified as needing to monitor their blood pressure regularly. This involves recording and sending us your blood pressure results on a three monthly basis. The surgery can also provide a 24-hour blood pressure monitoring service. If your GP or Practice Nurse feels this is necessary for you, our Healthcare Assistant will contact you to arrange an appointment at the surgery to explain the process and apply the monitoring equipment.

| Coil fitting: |
All our doctors can
provide this service for you. Please discuss your contraceptive
requirements with your doctor to decide what method is best for you.
He/She will then refer you for an appointment for fitting a coil. These
are usually 20 minutes appointments.

| Coil checks |
Although the intrauterine device (IUD) can stay in place for several
years the doctor or nurse will usually want to check that there are no
problems a few weeks after fitting an IUD. After this, an annual check
is typical and can be done by any of our doctors in the surgery.

| Contraceptive Pill Check |
If you are taking the oral contraceptive pill you will be asked to attend the surgery at least annually for a “pill check” to ensure your health and well-being. If you have blood pressure problems you will be asked to attend for your “pill check” more frequently, usually every six months.

| Cryotherapy |
This service is
available for the removal of warts, verrucca’s and other lesions. Your
G.P. will discuss the most appropriate treatment of your wart etc. with
you and if necessary will arrange cryotherapy removal. A dedicated
cryotherapy clinic is held monthly at the Firs and more frequently at
the High Street. All clinics operate an appointment system.

| Dressings/removal of sutures or clips |
Our nurses will change and/or remove dressings, sutures or clips done in hospital or in our own surgery. They will also redress wounds for the period of time it takes for it to heal.

| Ear Syringing |
Our nurses offer the
service of ear syringing.
|
||
| ECG’s |
ECG’s (Electrocardiographs) are carried out in order to obtain a reading of the heart rhythm. Each recording takes about 20 minutes and is painless. These recordings are done by our health assistant, on doctor’s referral.

| Non-NHS Services |
Our doctors deliver a multitude of services, but some of these are not funded by the NHS and therefore payment is required from either the patient or the insurance company. These services include:
The doctors charge BMA rates for any documents, e.g. BUPA forms, passports, shotgun licences that you may wish them to complete. Please check with the receptionist the amount you have to pay. Unless a stamped addressed envelope is enclosed for forwarding, all documents will be left at reception to be collected.

| Pessary |
All our nurses and doctors can advise you and fit you with a ring pessary. Please ask your nurse/doctor about this.

| Phlebotomy |
The surgery holds
phlebotomy clinics on both the main site and the Firs branch site. These
clinics are run by our health assistant as well as a phlebotomist from
hospital. During these clinics blood samples are obtained for blood
tests.

| Postnatal checkups |
Postnatal check ups are usually carried by the doctors directly after birth, usually by a home visit, and 6-8 weeks by an appointment at the surgery. |

| Spirometry |
Spirometry is a test that can help diagnose various lung conditions, most commonly COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease). It is also used to monitor the severity of certain lung conditions, and their response to treatment. Both our doctors and nurses perform spirometry testing during (annual) check-ups and normal visits
